"If you're having a COVID-19 test in a public hospital or in the mobile services operated by the Western NSW Local Health District, then you are eligible to register to receive negative test results by text message," Priscilla Stanley, WNSWLHD health protection manager, said.
"Everyone who has a test is asked to isolate until they receive their results. The messaging service is easy to register for, and means you get negative results quickly and go back to your usual activities.
"If people have a positive result, they are contacted by a public healthcare worker who will provide information on what happens next.
"It's a really helpful service, with many people getting their negative results back within 24 hours.

"Some other health services providing COVID-19 testing who use private laboratories may also be able to provide text messaging results. It's important that people ask at the time of their test whether the service is available.
"In the last four weeks, there were around 6,400 tests performed across our District, with no positive cases identified."
Across the Western NSW Local Health District testing is available at Respiratory Clinics operated by the Western Primary Health Network, at clinics operating out of most hospitals and from mobile services, as well as from many GP surgeries.
"For most services it's important that you call ahead if you have symptoms and want a COVID-19 test," Ms Stanley said.
"If you're in doubt, speak to your doctor or call our Western LHD's Public Health helpline on 1300 066 055."
