A Dunedoo man who'd built an intricate set-up in a shipping container in order to grow his own cannabis, was fined $1,200 when the matter was before Mudgee Local Court last week.

Fabian Keith Boyd submitted a plea of guilty to the charge 'Cultivate prohibited plant'.
At about 5.15pm on Saturday, April 11, 2020, police attended his Bullinda Street residence after receiving information about cannabis being grown there.
They were granted access and were taken to the backyard, where they met the 44-year-old and observed the 20-foot shipping container. Inside were eight plants, approximately 160-170cm in height.
Furthermore, they also noticed that the container was equipped with; growing lamps; a ventilation system; heavy material resembling black-out curtains; drums of fertiliser; and a split-system inverter air-conditioner, used to keep it all at a constant temperature.
Boyd admitted to owning the plants and growing them for his own personal use. And that those eight would be sufficient for his needs for a period of two years.
Police also noted that he was helpful throughout the interaction and assisted them in dismantling the set-up as the items of interest were seized.
