"Mobile connectivity is a vital service, particularly for those in the bush. Improved connectivity makes it possible for country Australians to stay connected, access education, conduct business and remain in contact with family and friends," Mr Gee said.
"The Wattle Flat and Sofala community fought hard to secure these small cell base stations - and thanks to their hard work, the local community and tourists passing through can now enjoy better mobile phone coverage."
Mr Gee also welcomed a $1,870 grant awarded to the Wattle Flat-Sofala Volunteer Bushfire Brigade under the Australia Government's Volunteer Grant program.
The funding will be used to purchase two new backpack blowers that will assist the Brigade in undertaking essential bush clearing work in the off season and bushfire season.
