"After careful consideration of the current climate and feedback from our community, we've made the decision to cancel Mudgee and District Relay For Life 2021 due to the significant effects COVID-19 is having on our local community," said a Cancer Council spokesperson.
"We are so grateful for the continued support and understanding, and we apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this decision may cause.
"We know that Relay For Life is a treasured opportunity to come together to help people affected by cancer, and we'll continue to work closely with our Mudgee Relay For Life committee to identify other ways you can show your support.

"In the meantime, we encourage you to continue to follow the current NSW Government Health advice to reduce your risk of contracting COVID-19. If you or someone you know has cancer and are concerned, please call our 13 11 20 Information and Support line to speak to one of our trained health professionals.
The 2020 Mudgee Relay for Life was set to go ahead in April before being cancelled two weeks out from the event due to the spread of COVID-19. The same fate befell the Orange event which was to be the first 25-hour relay in the state - due to daylight savings ending the Saturday evening of the event.
For people that have purchased or sold raffle tickets in the lead up to the event, Cancer Council is asking that you contact them to arrange pickup to ensure that your tickets are in the raffle.
The raffle will still be drawn Saturday 1st August, so all tickets will need to be in by 31st July. For more information, call Katherine Bodiczky on 6392 0800.
Money raised at Relay for Life events is invested into Cancer Council's research as well as support programs for local people affected by cancer such as Transport to Treatment, Living Well After Cancer, the 13 11 20 helpline, and community action/prevention programs.
