In their Draft Mid-Western Regional Local Strategic Planning Statement exhibited earlier this year, Council identified the Airport as an opportunity for business expansion in the aviation industry.
In August 2019, approval was given to subdivide the site from three lots to 15. With the Mudgee Airport Development report being put to the July 2020 meeting last Wednesday evening.
Council is now in a position to progress with the project and seek to secure suitable 25 year lease agreements for allotments 1-14, with allotment 15 to be retained for Airport operational purposes.

Earlier, it was recommended that lots 1-11 were to be leased, with two proposed to be sold, but it's now considered feasible to lease 14.
However, the DP has not yet been registered. With the report recommending - that in order to progress with the lease aspect of the project - "to obtain appropriate rental valuations for the allotments and, upon release by Council of the Linen Plan of the subdivision, the general manager commence to secure suitable lease agreements".
The finalisation of the leases would occur after the registration of the DP. As a result, the anticipated timeframes for lease take-up is unknown and be slowed.
The motion also included the allocation of $10,000 to the 2020/21 Budget for commercial property management to cover valuations and associated legal costs, funded from unrestricted cash.
