This event being held for the second years is a precursor to children starting Kindergarten in the coming year.
Preschool children from Gulgong Preschool and also Happy Days Preschool mingled with the kindergarten children of All Hallows as they played games and listened to stories.
Brad Toole, principal said, "this is a great opportunity for the preschool children to experience kindergarten prior to their enrolment next year".
"The weather was beautiful and the children really enjoyed being out in the playground playing the games with the older children," he said.
When I asked Mr Toole about his feelings on this type of orientation he said, "I feel it is important because it makes the transition to school so much easier as it gives the children confidence to come into a familiar environment".
150th Anniversary cancelled
Following a meeting last week, the committee of Gulgong's 150th Anniversary made the unanimous decision to cancel the event which had been postponed from the Easter weekend this year.
Joy Harrison, chairman of the committee said, "it was such a hard decision to make as we have put in two years of planning for the celebration".
And went on to thank the committee for the tireless work and commitment they have displayed over the past couple of years.
The other committee members were Margaret Meredith, Michelle Gaudry, Peter Willis, Tony Harrison, Jan Robson, Bill Murphy and Councillor Percy Thompson.
Discussion took place over holding Gulgong's 155th celebration in 2025 and judging by the response this could be a possibility.

High school students graduate Max Potential program
Patrick Butlin from Gulgong High School, this week, made a presentation on behalf of the young adults graduating in this year's Max Potential.
The program is an empowering and transformational leadership development program for young adults from four Mudgee region high schools, Gulgong High School, Mudgee High School, St Matthew's Catholic School Mudgee and Kandos High School.
The 22-week journey commences with training for the local volunteer community coaches in February each year. The 2020 program concluded on Friday, July 31, when the 14 young adults graduated.
A key aspect of the program encourages students to focus on the local community by implementing a community service project. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the community service project was re-imagined into a community service pitch with the young adults developing an idea, through proof of concept and being presented in a pitch film.
Patrick in his presentation thanked all those involved in the program including the mentors, organisers and the sponsors. He personally thanked his coach James who has inspired him to succeed and also acknowledged the program has assisted him to grow in confidence.
There were three other presentation from the young adults showcasing their community projects. Two were digital presentations and one a live performance from Rosie Stoddart, with two original songs she wrote as part of her community project.
All projects presented were of an amazing standard and enjoyed by the online community and family members.
Special guests on the day were Federal Member for Calare Andrew Gee, Gulgong High School Year 10 coordinator, Amelia Greenwood, Gulgong High School principal Anna Reynolds, along with Patrick's mother Louise.
The virtual presentation replaced the traditional showcase that is usually hosted at Club Mudgee each year. Club Mudgee have supported the program for the past 14 years.
Congratulations Patrick and the thirteen other young adults involved in this year's Max Potential program.
