A Newcastle woman charged with unlawful possession of a prescribed drug, when the vehicle she was a passenger in was stopped in Mudgee, had a warrant issued for her arrest when she failed to appear in local court last Wednesday.

Teagan-Leigh Hamilton of Berwick Crescent, Maryland, was also serving a Community Corrections Order at the time of the incident.
At about 10pm on Thursday, June 11, 2020, police stopped the vehicle in Market Street, because one of the headlights was out.
In addition to information revealed by a check of the 30-year-old's identity, another passenger was allegedly a known member of an outlaw motorcycle group. Furthermore, they said they were dropping Hamilton off at a hotel known to police for drug supply.
A search of the vehicle found a bag in her seat that contained a white tablet, which she said was a "quarter of Xanax". She admitted she obtained the drug - Alprazolam, used to treat anxiety - earlier that evening and didn't have a prescription.

In an unrelated matter, an Orange man - whose name the magistrate recognised from presiding at the court there - failed to appear to answer a charge of drug driving.
Duane Edward Blandford of Lords Place, Orange, was fined $550 and disqualified for six months.
At about 12.45am on Saturday, March 28, 2020, police stopped his vehicle on the Castlereagh Highway at Menah.
The 42-year-old tested positive to cannabis and was taken to Mudgee Police Station where a second sample detected methamphetamine. Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of both drugs.
Magistrate Day noted that the defendant is "a frequent flyer in Orange", where his honour also sits as the Mudgee court is on the Orange circuit.
