Village manager, Rebecca Redfern, had come across the project on social media and soon after, got her knitters knitting away.
"I have a group of fabulous ladies who come along for Tuesday craft club, and also wearing my Relay for Life hat knowing that it had been cancelled for this year, when I saw 'Knit for Cancer' on Facebook I thought that would be a great project for the craft ladies to participate in and just another way of supporting the Cancer Council," she said.
"We've got patterns to follow from the Cancer Council, so they've all followed that and some have just added a few extra bits and pieces to it, they've all enjoyed participating in it."
The items created will be sent back to the Cancer Council to be embroidered with their 'made with love' sticker before being handed out to individuals with cancer or be sold as a fundraising effort.
It is likely the Oak Tree Mudgee residents will have made approximately two dozen items before they are sent off in a weeks time.
"If anybody would like to come and join our Tuesday craft club from 10am to 12pm at 15 Meramie Street, Mudgee, they are more than welcome," Rebecca said.
