We're delighted to announce that we've once again partnered with Mid-Western Regional Youth Council and Mudgee Readers' Festival to deliver our second 'One YA Book One Community' project. This time we will all be reading 'Deep Water' by Australian author Sarah Epstein. You can get your hands on one of the 150 copies until October 10. Due to COVID-19 we're having to do things a little differently and the books will only be available to collect from our four library branches, as well as the four high schools and TAFE Mudgee. We'll also be running competitions and events related to the novel, so keep your eyes open for more details.

Born to Read, Toddler Time and Bookworms children's programs have recommenced at Mudgee, Gulgong and Kandos branches with social distancing being maintained at all times. Although Born to Read doesn't normally require registrations, we are asking parents to please register (mwrclibrary.eventbrite.com) until further notice to ensure numbers remain in accordance with our COVID safety plan and to avoid the disappointment of turning anyone away. There is no in-library craft at this stage however activity sheets to complete at home are being provided.

From August 28 collect a free Father's Day craft kit from the Library. Kits contain a number of exciting items and craft activities which you can give to your special person on Father's Day. For all registered Toddler Time and Bookworms participants, kits will be posted directly. An accompanying story and step-by-step instructional video of the main craft will also be available soon on the Library Facebook page.

We have recently added some new print magazines - Australian Photography, Australian Homespun, Camper Trailer Australia and Vasili's Garden to Kitchen. These will complement our already broad collection of magazines including Australian House and Garden, Better Homes and Gardens, Australian Women's Weekly, National Geographic and New Scientist. Don't forget the range of online magazines on our RBdigital platform.

The annual, state-wide celebration organised by the History Council of NSW, this year will run from September 5-13, with the theme "History: What is it good for?" There will be close to 100 events throughout NSW, many of which will be online for the first time. History Week events are open to public audiences. A feature event is the Annual History Lecture on the night of September 8, with Professor Stan Grant as lecturer in an online presentation. Check out historycouncilnsw.org.au/events/.
