It was always going to be a season like no other, but at more-or-less the midway point local club the North West Falcons have a tally of four wins, one loss and three washouts.

The Gulgong side opened their 2020 Dubbo and District Football Association campaign with a two-nil win at home over Westside Panthers. They were then due to host South Dubbo Wanderers the following week, but that became the first of three washouts.
The green machine then ran into a red-hot Wellington who put them to the sword 4-1. That side still sit undefeated at the top of the ladder.
Mother Nature again intervened and put paid to the much anticipated clash with East Dubbo United. Who were the Falcons' combatants in last year's grand final.
The local team then hit the road for the first in a stretch of away games and scored a 4-1 win over Dubbo Bulls FC. Then - for the first time this season - there were two rounds played in as many weeks and the Falcons were far too good for Dubbo Newtown's struggling Demons side, cruising to an 8-1 victory.
They were set to face Dubbo Newtown's Devils side, which would've been a good test against a solid mid-ladder team, but it became the third washout of the year.
Last weekend the Falcons travelled once more to Dubbo to face a side from the Newtown club - this time the Saints - and came away with a five-nil win.
Now with roughly as many games played as remaining, the local club is third on the table with four points of breathing room back to fourth-placed Westside.
EDU are one point ahead, having had a draw but no losses yet. Although they are yet to face the ladder-leading Wellington side.

Initially the competition was to be decided English Premier League style, first-past-the-post, but now the top two sides at the end of the season will play-off for the silverware. And with a Wellington loss between now and grand final day possible but unlikely - second spot looks like the ticket.
Falcons co-president Greg Reid said they're well placed to make their run towards the pointy end. However, it could all come all hinge on when the washed out EDU match is played on September 29.
"We're travelling pretty well, although I would like to see how we go against EDU to see how we're sitting at the end of the year," he said.
"And that will be the last round, so it's possible that the winner of that game will go through to the final."
This Sunday will be their first Gulgong match since late July. And while the visiting Macquarie United FC side is anchored to the bottom of the table, Reid said they aren't to be taken lightly.
"We can't go in with the wrong mindset, thinking it's going to be an easy game, because no game is an easy one until it's full-time. Hopefully we can come out unscathed and keep building towards the final," he said.
"But it's been a while since we've had a home game, I think we're all missing playing at Billy Dunn it's the best field in the comp."
