Burrendong Dam's restoration as a true beauty has taken six months and 487 gigalitres (GL) of water, almost equivalent to the 500 GL in Sydney Harbour.

On Thursday it was at 42.7 per cent of capacity and rising gradually, according to WaterNSW.
In the 24 hours to 9am Thursday, inflows to the dam were measured at 8.68 GL.
The last time the dam was at 43 per cent of capacity was February 2018.
An ugly drought left Burrendong Dam at 1.47 per cent of capacity in February 2020 but regular rain has freshened its appearance.
A spokesman for WaterNSW said it was likely that the dam storage would continue to rise.
"The Burrendong catchment is finally wet, at least for the time being, and reacting well to rain events, resulting in increasingly good inflows to the dam since the end of July," he said.
"With the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting a wetter spring and the likelihood of a La Nina event, the prospect of more inflows into the storage is quite high."
