Established in 2012, Indigearth has been taking Australia by storm with many craving the knowledge and taste of native Aboriginal food.
As founder and managing director, Sharon, a Ngemba Weilwan woman from Western NSW, made the decision to establish a retail space in Mudgee for locals to pay a visit to which will open on Friday.
"Indigiearth is all about natural products from mother earth. It's about bringing Australian native products to people in forms that they can enjoy in their home everyday," she said.
"I get the ingredients from all over the country, bring them in and then I make everything in Mudgee.
"I've been working with lots of other Aboriginal communities for over 20 years now so I've established really strong connections with other communities, the elders who work in the bush food space.
"It's also about helping other communities grow their bush tucker business and wild harvesting."
Indigiearth's new space will give people the opportunity to shop local for a range of products including, but not limited to, cooking herbs and spices, native jams and chutneys, native flower infused chocolate coated macadamias, teas, and more, while trying out some unique foods.
"Our latest addition has been candles, diffusers with native fragrances and our Sacred Earth native skin care products which are all natural," Sharon said.
"We will have a retail space so people can come and purchase any of the products, the teas, skincare, hand sanitisers, basically anything that is on our website.
"They can also come and enjoy a coffee with some bush tomato quiche, wattle seed cheesecake, biscuits, kangaroo burgers, we will have quite a diverse range of sweets and savouries and of course our native health food smoothies."
The main aim for Indigearth at their new location is "for people to connect and learn Aboriginal culture through food."
"I would really like people to come and immerse themselves in Indigiearth through bush tucker and botanicals. They can come, sit, realx, and enjoy some bush tucker. We will have a range of different things on the menu for them to experience," Sharon said.
"Not only is it something different and unique for Mudgee and the Central West, but there's lots of health benefits of Australian native foods, so we will be doing things like kakadu plum smoothies.
There's been a big push in wellbeing and our ancestors enjoyed living off the land and looking after mother earth for 60 thousand years so we want to help people understand and share in that.
