The Mid-Western Regional Local Government Area saw an increase in the number of sexual offences and a decrease in property damage and non-domestic assault, for the 12 months ending June 2020 when compared to the same period a year prior.

The data comes from the latest report by the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR).
Among the major offence categories to see a significant change in the LGA over the 24 months to June 2020, was 'Indecent assault, act of indecency and other sexual offences', which rose 81 per cent. With 38 reported incidents in the 12 months to June 2020 and 21 in the year ending June 2019.
'Malicious to property' dropped 24.2 per cent, with 210 reported incidents in the 12 months to June 2020, down from 277 in the year ending June 2019.
While 'Non-domestic violence related assault' decreased by 17.3 per cent, from 127 reported incidents in the 12 months to June 2019 to 105 in the year ending June 2020.

There were no other statistically significant changes in any other category.
For the Central West area there was an 11.1 per cent jump in the number of 'Steal from dwelling' offences across the two-year period, but for the Mid-Western Regional LGA it actually went down from 72 in the 12 months to June 2019 to 63 this year.
While the 'Break and enter' categories in the region saw incidents for dwellings stable, with 67 in the year to June 2020 compared to 66 for the same period in 2019. And for non-dwellings 35 offences and 19 for the two 12-month periods respectively.
Of the other major offence categories for the Mid-Western Regional LGA, in the year to June there were 172 'Domestic violence related assault' incidents reported to police, 38 of 'Sexual assault', 35 of 'Steal from retail store', 64 'Thefts from motor vehicle', 40 'Motor vehicle thefts', and 133 cases of 'Fraud'.
