At the most recent council meeting on Wednesday, September 16, the councillors were unopposed, with only one nomination each for the role of mayor and deputy mayor received.
Residents would have gone to the polls at the beginning of September for the planned council elections before they were postponed by the Minister for Local Government to 2021 due to COVID.
Cr Kennedy said he considered the role of mayor as 'an absolute privilege'.
"When Allan Border was captain of Australia, he was the captain for a good while, nobody challenged him, because he had a happy team, I hope that's the case here," Cr Kennedy said.
"I consider this an absolute privilege this job, ten years, this will be my 11th year. [There are] really good councillors around the table, really good staff.
"Council staff and the community have done a wonderful job promoting these towns - the growth in Rylstone and Gulgong and those places and the visitation that those places have had on the last few years is exorbedent and fantastic to see.
"I thank all the staff, particularly the outdoor staff and anyone listening to this a big thanks to the community, it's really a team effort the community, particularly lately. They really got behind the COVID situation and did their best and our revenue in the last twelve months is almost what it was up to this time last year."
"We've been fortunate to avoid a lot of that, there's been a lot of people in the community do a lot of hard work."
