Just Brick It won a close 49-40 match over Mayso's last week, Mayso's outscoring JBI in three of the four quarters and leading 21-19 at half time.
Just Brick It came to life in the third quarter, and with an 18-5 run held an eleven point lead at the final break.
They went off the boil in the final quarter, and Mayso's Pro Shop hit back, but their lapse in the previous period had been their undoing, and they could not quite bridge the gap going down by nine points.
The victory by Just Brick It over Predators 49-42 in round two unfolded in similar fashion.
Predators finished ahead in the first three quarters, including a lead of 24-22 at half time, but JBI unloaded in the final period to outscore their opponents 23-11 to snatch a seven point win.
Stride Health were thought to be a team that would also rise to the occasion and give the above teams a run for their money for a top four spot, and they have not disappointed, going down 33-39 to Mayso's pro Shop, but without their strongest line up crashing to Predators 35-65, and an understrength loss to Just Brick It 40-72.
The undoubted shock of the season so far, is the win by Hairy Ballers over Predators 21-18.
Dominated by defence, as the final score indicates, points were hard to come by for both teams.
The sores at the end of each quarter tell the story, 7-6 in favour of Hairy Ballers at the first break, predators leading 11-7 (5-0)at the long break, and ahead 16-10 (5-3)at the final break.
It was a matter of which team could put a run of baskets together, and wasn't until the final quarter that Hairy Ballers, after scoring zero and three in the previous quarters, notched eleven points to Predators lone basket in the final period to clinch an unlikely victory.
Two new teams Levens Smash Repairs and Ross's Big Ballers, entered the competition this year, both, as expected, finding it tough going against teams who have playing together for a number of seasons.
The ladder: Just Brick It- 28 points, Predators and Mayso's Pro Shop 22, Stride Health and Hairy Ballers 19, Mudgee Pump Company 13, Levens Smash Repairs 9, Ross's Big Ballers 7.
