To say the game was close is a gross understatement.

From the get go, it was anyone's match, especially with the prior two games between both being decided by a two point difference.
Anyone would be right to say the first 20 felt very much like the Wombats were in the lead, at least that was until you glanced up at the scoreboard and realised it was neck and neck.
Back and forth was the motion, Mudgee score, Parkes score, and it was a motion that carried throughout the duration of the grand final derby.
However it wasn't meant to be for the home squad with Parkes topping off their year with a 21-18 premiership victory.
Mudgee Wombats first grade captain Tom Dunstan always said the game was going to be close but can't fault his line-up for the incredible performances despite the loss.
"I'm obviously pretty upset, it was such a close game. We definitely had the opportunities to win it, I feel like we could've come away with a win but congratulations to Parkes," he said.
"There's only been seven points in all of our games this year so it was always going to be a close one, they really took advantage when they had the opportunity.
I can't fault anyone, it was the highest standard of games we've had this year.
- Mudgee Wombats first grade captain, Tom Dunstan
When the last five minutes on the clock began to tick away, the game was called leaving many of us wondering what had happened but Dunstan says according to the ref, the scoreboard was behind.
"The actual time is on the refs clock, the one on the scoreboard was slow," he said.
"It was a very fun year, a great vibe and I'm really looking forward to next year already."
