With golfers from all corners of the state vying for a shot at the title, local hopes are not to be dismissed.
Local knowledge is without a doubt an ace up the sleeve for Mudgee golfers with the intricacies of the course well known and anticipated.
In Friday's 4BBB Stableford, Steve Berridge, Rowan Standish, Matthew Flack, Zac Doherty, Mark Hale, James Hale, Kraige Anderson, Mark Kirkland, Terry Ford, Bruce Tilley, Ken Barlett, Keith Baker, Ashley Piprose, Kel Wilson and Bob Colley are a number of the many local representatives.
The local bunch will go up against golfers around the state, like Camden, Dunedoo, Cabramatta, Moss Vale, Balgowlah and Charlestown and further afield.
Saturday's Open will again feature the father and son duo, Mark and James Hale with 13-year-old James playing in his second open to date.
They will be joined by the likes of Mudgee's Ryan Bannerman, Andrew Best, Ben Newsome, Jason Seis, Brad Pain, Graeme Kurtz, Mark D'Elboux, Richard Gear, David Tooney and Alex Nicholson.
On the day, Mudgee Golf Club (MGC) will be imposing strict COVID-19 health precautions and comply with NSW Health regulations.
The MGC will be fully operational for the golf and the final series of the NRL which will be broadcast on the big screens.
The 2020 Mudgee Open will be held at the Mudgee Golf Course from October 2 to 4.
