Inevitably changing the feel and look of the club, the funding will go towards a new kitchen, awning and improvements for general seating.
Gulgong Turf Club president Percy Thompson says the announcement comes as a blessing after a lengthy wait for financial support.
"It's great news because we need another kitchen there and the other improvements. We've put in for grants but haven't got one and now this has come," he said.
"It will be good, we can do a lot with it.
"Some of it will also go towards an awning where we do the presentations during race days as well as the general seating area."
The track is utilised by six trainers, according to Thompson, and employs 14 people outside of the call-ins for racing requirements.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders says the improvements made as a result of funding will be of benefit to the entire community.
"Gulgong Turf Club is a popular recreational facility that supports the Central West racing industry and the local community with its family-friendly atmosphere," he said.
"The funding and improvements are welcome news that will benefit the race club and the broader community which uses its facilities."
The $1 million COVID-19 stimulus funding is part of a $39.1 million package that is being applied to regional infrastructure projects across the State.
