The local program - which is one of the longest, continually running Max Potentials in NSW - connects volunteer community coaches with young adults (aged 16-18) for the 22-week journey, as the students develop their personal leadership through challenges and triumphs.

Such an experience is never lost on the coaches either, which is an opportunity for professional and personal development for them as well.

The volunteer coaches receive two days of professional coach training before being matched with a young adult from either Mudgee, Gulgong, Kandos high schools or St Matthew's.

Over the 22 weeks they also receive three one-on-one coaching sessions with one of the professional Max Potential coaches.

In 2020 there was next to nothing that COVID-19 hadn't upended - and Max Potential wasn't immune from the widespread change brought to the world.

The program not only had to move online, but because it was also a tough year for many of their sponsors - which fund the program - now it's important to diversify their funding.

They've welcomed Bowdens Silver to the fray - whose State Significant Development is currently being assessed by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment - and they've signed up to sponsor two students from Kandos High School.

"We are delighted to support the Max Potential program as it is in line with our strong commitment to provide educational opportunities," Bowdens community liaison officer, Blake Hjorth said.

"We are sponsoring two Kandos High School students to participate in the program, which will give them valuable experience and knowledge to help not only with their schooling, but also their future career endeavours."
