With nerves and pressure on their shoulders, the Midwest Brumbies under 14s gave it their best on November 22 in the Western Women's Rugby League grand final but an undesirable loss to the Vipers, 18-8, saw their title chances crumble.

"We started with a lot of nerves in our system and I think pressure with winning so many games and the grand final being so big, there was a lot going on," Midwest Brumbies under 14s coach, Jett Bodiam said.

"The girls' efforts were there, just execution wasn't. They played their hearts out till the last minute though. The girls were upset but still happy to have come so far."

Heading into the grand final clash, the Brumbies were confident but aware of just how difficult the game would be, and although they suffered a loss, Bodiam 'couldn't be happier' with his impressive squad.

"I couldn't be happier with the girls, they showed they were top competitors throughout the whole season," he said.

"Although we lost the grand final, I still think they are the top team, it was just an off day. I think it will put a bit more determination into next year and will give them something to work for.

"I couldn't be more proud as their coach."

Looking towards next season, Bodiam is hopeful of taking the reins once again as the Midwest Brumbies look to continue to be fierce contenders in 2021.

"It's been an awesome experience coaching these girls, it's got its challenges but they have all been so good to me. It was awesome helping the girls reach their potential too," Jett said.

"I would love to keep coaching these girls and watching them grow into a bunch of awesome little footballers.

"Once again, I would like to thank Megan Bodiam for managing the team and all the parents who have helped out over the past couple of months with our newly formed club and making sure their kids are there every week.

"Congratulations to Orange Vipers, it was a great game."
