In the boys competition, minor premiers Mayso's Pro Shop Kings are through to the grand final defeating a tenacious Wildcats 37-27 in the major semi-final.
There was little between the two teams in the first quarter, Mayso's Kings ahead 5-4 at the break, the opening salvo a free shot from Mack Codrington, Connor Mayson and Riley Tonkins adding the extras, while Hunter McGrath with two baskets keeping Wildcats in touch.
Mayso's Kings upped the tempo early in the second quarter, and piled on thirteen points to their opponents four, charging to a 18-8 lead at half time.
Wildcats, in need of a quick and scoring start to the third period to get back into the game, changed their tactics to a full court press which paid early dividends, Will Hawkins and Toby Forrester grabbing difficult baskets to close the gap and the team a chance charge over the top of their opponents in the final quarter as they headed into the final break trailing by five.
However, two buckets by Jacob Marshall early in the final quarter stopped the Wildcats momentum in its tracks, and following a three pointer from Lachlan Hemingway, and Wildcats points mainly coming through free shots, the match swung in favour of the minor premiers, who went on to win by ten points.
For Mayso's Pro Shop Kings, Mack Codrington 13 points, Lachlan Hemingway 10. For Wildcats, Lachlan Doran 8, Hunter McGrath 7.
Mudgee Travel & Cruise will take on Wildcats in the final after winning a tight minor semi-final over Cudgegong Valley Motel Taipans 34-30.
Down by three points at quarter time, Taipans were desperate for early buckets, Noah Smith and Harry Gallen stepping up to take the lead 11-10, then 13-10, before a three pointer from Flynn McLean edged Mudgee Travel & Cruise by a point.
Despite the surge from Taipans, they still trailed 16-17 at the long break, facing another hard slog ahead of them to win the game.
Noah Smith again came to the rescue with two baskets in the vital opening minutes of the third period, the Taipans aggressive play putting their opponents on the back foot for the first time in the game.
On a roll, Cudgegong Valley Motel Taipans kept their foot on the pedal to the end of the quarter and were rewarded for their efforts to hit the front 26-25, to set up a great finish to the match.
Confidence high, another goal by Noah Smith shortly after the start of the final quarter, gave Taipans a further boost and a four point buffer, but they were quickly jolted back to reality by three consecutive baskets from Matt Robinson for Mudgee Travel & Cruise, taking his team to the lead 31-28.
Taipan's Harry Gallen then sank two free shots to shrink the advantage to one close to full time, but a triple play from Connor McLean closed out the match for Mudgee Travel & Cruise, victors by four points.
Matt Robinson top scored for Mudgee Travel & Cruise with 16 points, Connor McLean 13.
For Cudgegong Valley Motel Taipans, Noah Smith a superb game for 16 points, Harry Gallen 8, Logan Geddes 6.
Club Mudgee Lightning, unbeaten all season in the girls competition, looked likely to surrender their record in the major semi-final, giving away a 16 point start to Club Mudgee Capitals, but in the end staying undefeated winning 30-20.
Club Mudgee Capitals failed to capitalise on the 16 point penalty they were given, their defence letting them down, as Lightning strove to chase down the formidable lead they had given away.
Turnovers cost Capitals dearly throughout the game as Lightnings defence bustled them into errors, possession paramount for the minor premiers if they were to score the points necessary to stay in the game.
By half time Capitals were still in front 18-8, but by the final break it had all come apart, finding themselves now leading by only a single basket.
Lightning, in sight of an improbable victory, kept the pressure on the Capitals defence and attack, and it started to pay dividends in the latter half of the final quarter, so much so they outscored Capitals 12-nil, to book a grand final berth by ten points.
Amelia Disher and McKenzie Cini scored 10 points each for Club Mudgee Lightning, Rachel Channon and Amy Ioane 2 points each for Club Mudgee Capitals.
Club Mudgee Capitals now take on Cudgegong Valley Motel Fire in the final on Wednesday at 5pm, the winner to play Club Mudgee Lightning in the grand final on Saturday the 28th.
