In A grade, it was Mark Hale (269) who got the job done and set a new record, beating the previous set by Jack Delaney (278) ten years ago by nine shots.
Andrew Best (274) followed Hale to second place while Dallas Kelly (287) took out third for the top category.
As for B grade, Geoff Rhodes was the top golfer with 325, followed by G Boyd (328) and C Peters (330).
C grade was topped by Stuie Campbell with 382, followed by James Hale (392) and C Taylor (414).
Mark Hale says while he knew he was going in with a few rounds of decent golf up his sleeve, he had no intention of setting a new club record.
"It's amazing as my previous best for any championships was five under, to have 15 under is crazy especially for an old fart like myself at 48, I thought those days were gone," he said.
"I did actually say to my wife leading into the champs that if I putt ok, someone is in for a bit of hurt as I had been hitting the ball really good for a few months."
Hale has won 19 championships at various locations, including Mudgee (5), Aberdeen (1), Waratah (1), and Branxton to name a few.
"Over the years I know my improvement has been because of the great support I have from my family. My wife and kids are very supportive and I always support James with his golf," Hale said.
"To have the young fella playing as well makes me really proud as a dad. I think he put too much pressure on himself because I won C grade championships when I was 13 and he wanted to do the same as his old man. But, there are plenty more years left for him to come.
"The support James has from the Mudgee members has been awesome, especially our pro Peter Mayson. I tell him [James] to try things and he doesn't listen, but if Mayso says to, it's like God has spoken.
"It's really good to play with such a competing bunch of guys at Mudgee; Besty, Kiwi, Salad, Ozzy, Ruk and Lono. Huge thanks has to be given to Jason Seis and the green staff as well, they do an amazing job and I think Mudgee's greens are the best in NSW by a long way."
