The idea was sparked by Lifeskills trainees, Ashleigh Harris and Shania Aylett who will go on to be team members once their training has been completed.
Lifeskills Plus senior support worker, Sue Johnston said COVID-19 has been difficult for the group and the ball has given them something to be excited about with a theme of 'not all disabilities are visible'.
"It just takes a couple of girls like Shania and Ashleigh to inspire and generate some fun like this that goes above and beyond, we don't get too many young trainees that have such zest," Sue said.
"This is like an end of year prom for them. Everything is all in house because we are restricted with numbers but we have some strict infectious control to adhere to at Lifeskills.
"Fortunately there's going to be about 50 clients or more just dressed to the nines, they're so excited, they really are."
With an in house sewing group on deck, there won't be a single girl without a gown to accompany her hair and makeup.
"It's just amazing what the sewing group has come up with. They have been volunteering their time to make sure every girl has a dress, I'm talking about a long ball gown and some have hoops. Some are getting their hair and makeup done too, they'll be Cinderella for a night," Sue said.
"It is something special, you should feel the hum about it."
Lifeskills Plus' masquerade ball will be held on Thursday, December 3 from 5.30pm to 9pm.
