Despite last year hardly being one of certainly, many students strived to continue developing their skills and Shihan Geoff Spice says it's a true testament to their character.
"Because 2020 was such a bad year, we decided to pick a student from each class per day and nominated them as the Student of the Year for their group as well as the overall Student of the Year," he said.
"The students we chose came back from all of the temporary COVID-19 closures and still excelled and committed themselves to training.
"It capped off a pretty difficult year very well."
Leo Wrigley and Lance Barber (Monday class), Willow Freeman and Angus Scales (Tuesday class), Sophia Long and Wyatt Maguire (Wednesday class) and Brodie Speechley (Thursday class) were the Students of the Year for the juniors.
For the Monday senior beginners, Liam Standen received his purple belt, while Liam English graded to his orange belt and received the Student of the Year for their class.
Ben Jeeves received his orange belt and was awarded Student of the Year for Wednesday's adults senior class.
Alex Maiolo, Rachel Elliot received their green belts, Seth McGown graded to yellow belt and Jason Delanszki received Student of the Year for Wednesday's senior beginners.
Thursday's advanced class Student of the Year went to Will Drakeford.
In the adults BJJ class, Ryan Wilkinson received his first stripe for white belt, Geoff Spice received his blue belt, Ryan Innes received his second white belt stripe, Will and Allen Drakeford received their first white belt stripe, Briar Constanzo received his first white belt stripe, Reece Cherry received his third blue belt stripe, and Travis Smith received his third white belt stripe.
Hayden Lowe received his first Kyu Brown Belt, Bill Murphy and David Maranda received their Shodan Ho grade and David Maranda was awarded the most outstanding Student of 2020.
Due to recent Government COVID restrictions, Mudgee Martial Arts' enrollment day was cancelled so students looking register must email mudgeemartialarts@hotmail.com).
Emails sent must include the students name, which class/group they hope to join and which day/time slot.
First preference will be given to students who attended Mudgee Martial Arts in term three and four of 2020.
