The airport was due to reopen to aviation traffic, private and commercial, today, however additional time is required to complete the works.
Earlier:
The closure is required to allow for Council to undertake essential runway resealing and line marking.
The airport will be closed to all aviation traffic, private and commercial, from 6am Saturday, 16 January until 7pm on Monday, 25 January.
Last year, Council secured $187,500 in grant funding from the Bushfire Community Recovery and Resilience Fund, plus an additional $308,000 in grant funding through the Australian Government's Regional Airports Program to undertake repair and reseal works.
Council will partially match funding for the project to continue to support a regular passenger service and critical air services including the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Rural Fire Service.
Works are weather permitting.
Council apologises for any inconvenience.
