The duo are no strangers to the Mudgee region, having both performed at venues in the region in years past and the duo have just announced the Mudgee leg of their Love and Lies tour comes to Augustine on February 14.
Speaking with the Mudgee Guardian fresh off her album release on January 15. Catherine said she's eager to get to the region and perform for fans. Something she was forced to scale way back in 2020 like many other artists.
"What's a better way to spend Valentine's Day? It'll be fun. I'm looking forward to it," she said.
"I haven't played there [Augustine] before. But I've played Mudgee. It's so beautiful. And I'm excited to get back and be a part of it. You know, I won't have any lover on Valentine's Day. So I might as well hang out with people who love music." Catherine joked.
Catherine's recent album, titled Home Truths is a significant release for the singer, being the first album she's released on her own label. A move she considered after she realised what she might leave her two sons, aged three and one.
"It was really just becoming a mum that influenced that decision for me. My boys won't own certain parts of my career," Catherine said.
"There are whole masters of albums they won't own ever and that really distressed me. I just thought, 'oh my god, I'm doing all of this', and I go away from them, I work so hard and they see me do that and they're not going to actually get anything from it, they're not going to reap any of the benefits.
"The money wasn't coming into our household. It was going into the labels of the people I was signed with, and I that just doesn't feel right to me."
Also making news:
Catherine said the album is a reflection of her life during COVID, with some of the songs being directly inspired by moments in lockdown.
"I reckon the whole album's a reflection of that [COVID]. New Dawn is very much a song about COVID and dealing with the loneliness, and identification stripping of the whole thing," she said.
"There's like a lot of experiences I went through during that time, even going through my back catalogue because my mum cleaned out her house - I never would have done that if it wasn't for COVID and being in lockdown."
Catherine and Amber will be performing at Augustine in Mudgee on Sunday, February 14. Tickets are on sale now at augustinemudgee.com.au
