Mudgee Indoor Swimming Club braved the rain at the Western Area Championships in Dubbo over the weekend.

The event was held over two days with some exceptional performances put in from the Mudgee swimmers.
The squad had 14 competitors attend a total of 124 events.
In total, the club came home with 28 first place wins, 20 second places and 19 third place wins.
The swimmers also achieved a total of 40 personal best times, reflecting how hard they train.
A special mention goes to Kelly Constable, Charlotte Wilson and Alastair Neaverson-Smith all with five first place wins, Edward McGilvray with four first place wins, Sammi Atkinson with three first place wins, Edith Keightley with two first place wins and Anthea Kearins with one first place win.
Nate Atkinson won all 10 of his races and also achieved a total of five records - 50m butterfly, 100m and 200m freestyle, 50m and 200m backstroke.
In the 100m freestyle, Nate (58.25) beat a record that was set by Gary Styles (59.03) nearly 40 years ago in 1982.
Charlotte Wilson, who is still sporting an injury, was able to achieve two records as well in the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke.
21 Mudgee swimmers will attend Wellington this weekend on Sunday which will be the last carnival before the NSW Country Championships at Homebush February 19 and 21, 2021.
