At 8am on February 12, 2021, K Hub opened its door for this first time in Mudgee.
Anticipation was on a high with multiple community members eagerly waiting to take their first steps inside the newly-fit store.
Patricia and Christopher Fraser were a pair of the many queuing up, and said while they weren't initially on the 'bring Kmart to Mudgee' bandwagon, the news was welcomed.
"When I found out it was coming, I was so excited," Patricia said.
"I just wanted to be here on the opening day and see it first hand, I would go in before hours if that were possible.
"We were in Dubbo the other day and Particia had to go to Kmart, she wouldn't miss it," Chrisopher said.
"I love the craft stuff. If they don't have any, I'll just do click and collect which is great," Patricia said.
For Michelle Pearce, a resident of Gulgong for approximately 15 years, she will likely become a regular to the shop due to being somewhat of a Kmart enthusiast.
"This has been great. I have been going to Dubbo's store ever since it opened, and before that I would go to Sydney and Kmart would be the first place I go to," she said.
"Their stuff is so cheap, I love everything they have. I think it'll do a good trade here, especially with the people at the mines."

As for Mid-Western Region Council mayor, Des Kennedy who confessed "I am a Kmart shopper, I love a bargain", the opening of the store is not only a benefit to locals, but also for those beyond the Mid-Western zone.
"We were fearful a year ago that we might lose Target which was a major concern of the whole community. For the Kmart people to see enough confidence in our economy to bring the store here is absolutely wonderful," Mr Kennedy said.
"It's employing 20 people which is fantastic. They've obviously done their homework at the head office and saw that we are a growing community and economy.
"We've got a big catchment here not just with the Mid-Western Region but also people further out who come to Mudgee to shop which is exciting."
