One of the most prominent events in the Mudgee Race Club calendar is back for another year, showcasing the best of country racing.
The Country Championships, to be held on February 28, is expected to bring the heat, not only in terms of weather, but field for the all-important race meet.
Not only will the likes of the region's best trainers be featured, the Country Championships also brings in the best of the best from the Central District.
Mudgee Race Club secretary, Colleen Walker says the committee feel 'privileged' to be hosting the event for another year.
"It is going to be so special. We are so privileged to be hosting this event in Mudgee," she said.
"It's the richest country series in the world, we're going to have the cream of the crop from the Central District entering into the Championship race.
"We will have a very competitive day of racing."
Racing won't be the only thing on offer, with a mix of entertainment scheduled to boost the atmosphere.
"Entertainment will be the best of the best with the Hot Potato Band and magician performing throughout the day," Colleen said.
"We're also hosting the TAB Lawn Party, the Fashions of the Field will have special guest judge who will be announced closer to the day.
"The Dragons and Rabbitohs young and old will be also attending, depending on COVID of course."
Due to COVID-19 restrictions still being in place, bookings are essential and can be done so by emailing colleen@hwy.com.au.
"People must email to book their places, that's members, owners and the general public," she said.
Nominations for the meet are to be entered by February 23, with final fields to be announced on February 25.
