The tournament idea was proposed following the outstanding success of Mudgee Open Tennis Tournament held in November 2020.

Many senior club members played in this tournament and since many played social tennis several times a week it seemed a good idea to have a special age related tournament. Ages on the night ranged from 55 to 84 years, with most players closer to 70 than 55.

Friday 19th was chosen as it was the night of the Australian Open Tennis semifinals. A perfect night for the tennis tragic and an opportunity to display skills or at least indulge in a tennis fantasy.

The objective was to have good competitive tennis but organised in a way that all could participate and play with different partners; the eventual winner being the person who won the most games.

After two hours of competitive play, participants enjoyed a jovial evening of dinner and drinks provided by the players and their families and watching live stream tennis on a big screen in the clubhouse.

The success of the evening was attributed to the help and support from the younger committee members who assisted with organizing the draw, directing players and scoring.

The winner was Peter Supiers with the runner up Gerald Norton- Knight; tied third place went to Richard Collins and Peter Ampt.

Prizes were donated by Brighton Farm Locally Grown Flowers and Burnbrae Wines.

The community club welcomes new players and members to participate in a range of tennis activities throughout the week at the courts.

These opportunities include Organised social tennis groups on Monday morning, Tuesday morning, Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning, Wednesday evening, Friday morning and Saturday afternoons.

Weekly adult and children's competitions

Following the outstanding success of the MOO several more age related (kids, juniors, 20 to 45 and 45 to 55) tournaments have been suggested for 2021.
