The former Eurovistion contestant was speaking with the Illawarra Mercury ahead of her concert at The Music Lounge, at Wollongong Town Hall on Friday, March 19.
Im said she had been trying to share more about herself as more people were turning to online, especially for streaming and web concerts.
"I think people will consume more music and content online," she said. "I've been trying to share more about my life and my music-making processes through my YouTube channel as well and it's been fun connecting on a deeper level with my audience."
Im began her musical journey as a virtuoso pianist, though renowned for capturing the nation's hearts in 2013 when she won The X Factor Australia.
She has released chart topping albums and singles such as 'Alive', 'Super Love' and 'Gladiator' and last year released her uplifting and powerful new single 'Paper Dragon'.
She went onto become Eurovision Royalty in 2016 when she earned the highest score ever achieved by an Australian entry with her global chart-topping song 'Sound of Silence'.

Like many musicians, a lot of 2020 was a creative downtime for the star, who said she was forced to think deeply about her creative direction.
"It was disappointing at first to not be travelling and performing nationally and internationally but it gave me time to focus on my songwriting and spend more time making online content," she said.
Im has now signed with a new record label, ABC Music, and released a new song "Lonely Cactus".
"It was inspired during the lockdown period where I felt lonely on one hand but also got comfortable not seeing anyone (I think we all did)," she said.
"And once I got to hang out with other people I felt prickly and wanted to go home to my Netflix."
Her upcoming tour is the outside of her home state of Queensland in a year, and it will also be her first solo tour.
"A whole show solo with just me and the piano so it's going to be an interesting challenge for me," she said.
