Mudgee's thirteen-year-old Charlotte Wilson is one of the region's most successful swimmers and it's easy to see why.
For Charlotte, it all began in England where she was first taught to swim before the family's relocation to Mudgee.
Her competitive drive was ignited at the age of seven when she first began competing in weekend swimming competitions.
"I love the training, competition and just being in the water," Wilson said.
While there may be a degree of natural talent, it's Charlotte's passion and dedication to the sport that has made her a force to be reckoned with.
" I have received some natural talent from my father but I believe that I have worked hard to be where I am today," she said.
Having had an extensively successful career so far, there are many highlights to be mentioned but Charlotte couldn't go past the ones mentioned below.
"One award that I value a lot is the Australia Day Sports Award I received this year, but for swimming I cherish my NSW Country medals," she said.
"A highlight moment of my swimming was getting my national times for this year's Australian National Age Championships on Gold Coast.
"I would like to thank my coach Mick O'Sullivan, my family and the Mudgee Indoor Swimming Club for their support."
This week Charlotte will compete in the NSW State Open Championships where she will go head-to-head with one of her idols.
"I look up to Kate Campbell and this week I will be swimming against her at Sydney Olympic Park which is very exciting," she said.
"In the future I see myself continuing to try hard and achieve to the best I can."
Charlotte Wilson is a member of the Mudgee Indoor Swimming Club who regularly compete at various events across the state.
