Although the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out will commence at other Central West locations on March 22, Mid-Western residents will receive theirs one week later due to technical issues and other unforeseen circumstances.
The Department of Health has advised the local respiratory clinic will receive just 400 vaccinations for the first four weeks, however, the first delivery is yet to arrive.
Once the vaccines have been received, local practices and Mid-Western Regional Council will issue information via social media pages, including with details on how to book an appointment.
"Please do not call your GP practice to enquire about bookings for COVID-19 vaccinations. Calling our practice will only interrupt our usual patient care, and place undue stress on our reception staff," a press release from South Mudgee Surgery read.
The initial stage of Phase 1B will include anyone 70 years old or over, along with healthcare and frontline workers. It also includes Indigenous Australians 55 or over and younger Australians with underlying medical conditions.
The vaccination site will be located at the Mudgee Showground Pavilion.
To check if you are eligible to receive the Phase 1B vaccination, head to https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/eligibility.
Additional information will be published by the Mudgee Guardian as developments are made.
