A man has been refused bail after being charged with a string of theft and traffic-related offences in the state's Central West.

In early January a quad bike, trailer and power pack were stolen from a property in the Piambong area near Mudgee, with officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District and the Rural Crime Prevention Team beginning an investigation.
Following inquiries officer arrested a 57-year-old man at a home in Kennard Street, Wellington, last week.
He was taken to Wellington Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company, break and enter house, drive during disqualification period, and larceny.
He was formally refused bail at Wellington Local Court last Tuesday and will reappear before the same court on Tuesday, April 20.
Detective Chief Inspector Cameron Whiteside, State Rural Crime Coordinator, Rural Crime Prevention Team said the investigation was assisted by information provided by the community.

"This investigation was previously posted on the Rural Crime Prevention Team Facebook page resulting in considerable interest and concern about rural crime in the Piambong area," he said.

"The dedication and commitment from local Rural Crime Investigators from Mudgee and Dubbo resulted in significant progress in this investigation, and ultimately sees the matter placed before the court.
"The investigation of rural crimes relies heavily on local landholders working with their local police in preventing and solving rural crimes."
