Mudgee's Hamish Jackson, who took out the men's sprint event, said the meeting was difficult due to several challenges the triathletes had to overcome including navigating the tricky Macquarie River.
"That was hard work, in the swim you can't see underwater so there was a lot of sighting and keeping my head up, I didn't have a very good swim," he said.
"I got on the bike and the cross wind was very challenging and a few bumps in the course and the wind blowing you around. I managed to hold a good pace in the run and come across the line first.
"That's probably the hardest bike I've been involved in, you had to really lean into the wind which was coming from your left. It was a good turn out today."

Jackson was one of five members from the Mudgee Triathlon Club who made the trip to Dubbo.
"We didn't have a lot of members from Mudgee come across today, we have a lot of people training for an Ironman at Port Macquarie but it was a really good event," Jackson said.
Jackson sat in third leading into the run with Dubbo's Ben Orford and Daniel Roberts ahead of him.
But showing good pace in the 4km run, Jackson managed to round up both and finish first by just under a minute.
Orford was not far behind Jackson to claim second as Roberts followed in third.
Dubbo's Julia Mannix finished well clear of the fellow competitors to take out the women's sprint event and was pleased with her own performance.
"It was really good, a little bit wet only half way through so there was good weather for it," she said.
"Apparently the wind may have changed direction because there was a tail wind for most of it."
Weather held off for the majority of the event with some light rain and wind picking up during the cycling section of the wave.
A smaller field of 49 entrants opened up the opportunity for points allocations with Dubbo performing well across the different events and categories.
The TriStars event originally planned to be held early Sunday morning was cancelled due to predicted heavy rain and a possible alternate date is being discussed.
Triathletes from Dubbo, Mudgee, Orange, Bathurst and Cowra all made the trip to Dubbo for the event.
Sunday's meeting marked the final race for the club for the season.
