The NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Cudgegong District has begun development of a Community Protection Plan (CPP) for the Clandulla Village and has asked for input from local residents and landholders.
Made up of three maps, Community Protection Plans give information about access to the area, how to safely leave in the event of a bush fire, and identifying important or 'at-risk' facilities.
Residents and landholders in Clandulla Village will have a chance to provide input at an upcoming community meeting on Sunday 28 March at the Clandulla Rural Fire Brigade Station (18 Ferris Street Clandulla) from 12.00pm.
Cudgegong District Superintendent Porter noted that this Community Protection Plan will define how the NSW RFS, as well as land managers and local residents manage the risk of bush fire to the community of Clandulla in coming years.
"Community Protection Plans provide the public, land managers and fire authorities with easy to understand information that was relevant to them and specific to the local community and I encourage all local residents and landholders to participate," Superintendent Porter said.
In addition to the Community Protection Plan for Clandulla, initial scoping of Community Protection Plans for Hargraves and Cooks Gap/Yarrawonga are also currently under development, with community consultation sessions to be scheduled later in 2021.
"As part of the early development of a CPP for Clandulla, the NSW RFS has also successfully identified a Neighbourhood Safer Place (NSP) for the Clandulla Village at Clandulla Park (7 Mead Street Clandulla). We are hopeful this will be approved and sign posted ahead of the 21/22 bush fire season," Superintendent Porter said.
