Commencing the year with COVID-19 at large, there were few challenges that arose, but the club remained strong to ensure the season was enjoyed by all.
"It's been a fantastic season. We had good numbers across all the age groups especially in the blast program. The committee has worked hard to ensure we had a season of cricket that all involved enjoyed," Mudgee District Junior Cricket Association president, Andrew Whale, said.
"We tried to make it like all the past seasons. We had to adjust the start of the season to comply with COVID-19 restrictions, and parents, players, and committee members were very flexible in complying with the regulations we were required to follow.
"We adjusted to ensure that we had a great season of local junior cricket."
While Whale says "there are too many highlights to name", one standout moment was when nine juniors made representative cricket teams, the largest local group of players to do so in a decade.
"These players were selected across the under 13s, under 14s, under 15s and under 16s age groups for the Central West Cricket Council teams," he said.
The club also held their first grand finals since the 2017/18 season due to previous games being washed out or COVID denying the opportunity.
"The players had a great season. The feedback from the age groups was that the competitions were strong and competitive, it's a great result," Whale said.
With numbers having grown throughout the years, Whale is confident the 2021/22 season will be a similar case.
"Our numbers will continue to grow. It's a great team sport and I hope to see everyone back next season," he said.
"The MDJCA committee would just like to thank and acknowledge all the volunteers, scorers, coaches, sponsors, parents and players. Without your continued support and hard work, there would be no junior cricket so a big thank you for all your efforts this season."
