WITH motor racing making an early return to Mount Panorama this year much to the delight of fans, the return of racing to the Bathurst Showground will be sure to please the eager crowd as well. The Esky Charity Challenge will be a highlight on the program once again with four heats set to be held before a final race that will not only determine the winner, but also the charity which receives the prize money.
Executive Secretary, Brett Kenworthy, said that while the races will be great fun, he expects some fierce competition to decide just who is the best of the best. "It's red versus blue, mate against mate, to see who is the fastest driver on our speed machines," he said. "The Challenge is all about having some fun and raising money for charity, but no doubt there will be bragging rights on offer for the winner."
While they may not be as fast as a V8 Supercar, the esky's feature powerful 40cc engines that can reach top speeds of 25 to 30 kilometers per hour. Entry fee to the Charity Challenge is $100, which will result in over $1000 being donated to the winner's charity of choice.
