The Western Rams under 17s development squad fought off the Greater Northern Tigers in the NRL round 6 curtain raiser at Glen Willow Stadium.
In front of a building crowd, the Rams kicked off the scoring with Tom Livich fighting through the Tigers' defence line to score in the first two minutes.
Six minutes on, the Tigers replied with their one and only try for the first half placed by Robert Lay.
However the Western side weren't done with tries from Jamie Thorpe and Nick Murphy sealing the home side's half time lead, 14-6.
The final half had the Rams' name all over it with the Murphy scoring his second try of the day six minutes from the break. He went on to convert.
Despite the Tigers scoring triple to close the gap, Rams proved superior with Thorpe scoring another, ending the game with a 26-22 victory for Western.
