Mudgee will play host to some stellar footy on Saturday as the first of the Group 10 'magic rounds' will be held at Glen Willow.
Adopted from the NRL, the magic round sees six teams play in Mudgee with the Dragons facing off against Lithgow Workies, St Pat's will face CYMS and Hawks will take on the Panthers.
Mudgee Dragons President, Sebastian Flack said the round will be a great opportunity to show what the side has in front of a home crowd.
"It's going to be an exciting weekend with all the teams in one spot. it's an idea to get everyone in the same spot, promoting the game and getting first graders more footy to play in the year," he said.
"We're lucky enough to host the first one...We're hoping for a big crowd because we don't have many home games. [It's] one of our only opportunities to show what we've got in the first half of the year."
The three magic rounds are spread throughout the draw, with the first being at Glen Willow in Mudgee on Saturday, May 15. CYMS and Hawks will host the second triple-header round on June 19 at Wade Park before Panthers and St Pat's do the same at Carrington Park on August 7.
Group 10 President Linore Zamparini said all the clubs have been enthusiastic for the change and sees the magic round continuing into the future.
"It is exciting... It's a payback to the fans, no football last year and let them go to the one venue and see all six clubs participate on that day, so it'll be a great family, great rugby league and it should be a win for the spectators," Linore said.
"We're trying to take it to where the bulk of the people are and the football community. I think it will [continue] if this comes off the way we sort of think it will - and there's a fair bit of positivity about it - I think it'll be something we could leave on our calendar for years to come."
The rounds are not just for playing more footy, with all revenue raised to be split between the six clubs.
"The magic rounds are all for the clubs, all the money goes back to the clubs," Linore said.
"All revenue raised at those three venues on those particular days will be divided up between the six premier league clubs. It's a win for them, it's a win for everybody and as I said we're just trying to look after the fans. If we can make it a family day out - and the weather good to use it should be a really great round this first one particularly."
