Investigations are ongoing after a man was hit by the tailgate of a truck on the Lue Road intersection just outside of Mudgee recently.
Police say that about 3.30pm on Thursday 20 May 2021, emergency services were called to the intersection of Lue and Ulan roads, near Mudgee, following reports a pedestrian had been injured by a passing truck.
Police were told a Mitsubishi truck was travelling on Lue Road when its tailgate became partially dislodged, causing it to swing open and collide with the pedestrian who was standing on the roadside.
Emergency services attended the scene and located a 70-year-old man with head and internal injuries.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Mudgee Hospital in a serious condition. The man was later airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition for treatment.
Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and commenced inquiries.
Investigations are ongoing.
