Several years ago, council was informed that the land of the lookout was privately owned, however after a recent discussion with a neighbouring owner, the area is believed to be Crown land.
The motion, that was brought to the July 21 meeting, was listed and moved by Councillor Percy Thompson who, during discussions, said if investigations reveal the land is not privately owned, all necessary actions must be undertaken to ensure the lookout can be visited once again.
"I've been approached over the years not just by locals but by a number of people asking if we can open up the lookout once again," Cr Thompson said.
"I visited that lookout a number of years ago, it's beautiful, you can see the whole of the Kandos district.
"We've got a lookout in Mudgee, one in Gulgong, and they want one in Kandos. We should be supporting the whole lot.
"If we can develop the land into a lookout again, we need to do it."
The motion was passed by a majority vote with a report to be provided at a future council meeting.
The Kandos Rotary Lookout is located on the Bylong Valley Way.
