The annual Club Mudgee club grants program provides financial support to a variety of local bodies who endeavour to host events or plan projects that contribute greatly to the community.

Of the 47 recipients was Mudgee Playgroup who received $3,550 that went towards freshening up the space.

"We are run by volunteers for the community and have been for 27 years. We totally rely on the support from the community so we really appreciate the fact that Club Mudgee said yes straight away to donating to us," Mudgee Playgroup volunteer, Kim Gribble said.

"We wanted to get something that would last for many years so we invested the money into some red leather lounges that will brighten up the space.

"We hope the parents and carers come along and feel like the space is improved."

While last year's Mudgee Rotary carols were cancelled due to COVID-19, this holiday season will look more merrier with the funds from Club Mudgee going towards running the event.

"We're very appreciative of the club grants from Club Mudgee because we're now able to hold our carols this year on December 11 at the showground," Mudgee Rotary Sunrise president, Carol Cockerill-Wright said.

"We'll have Santa back, all the bands and food stalls. It's going to be a wonderful event."

Being heavily reliant on donations meant this past year was a challenge for Mudgee's Legacy and Men's Shed branches, however the pressure has now eased.

"We really appreciate it this year especially because Legacy Week was cancelled, we had no fundraising opportunities whatsoever," a Mudgee Legacy representative said.

"Legacy is totally dependent on donations for all the work we do, about two per cent of our total funds is from the Government, the rest is either donated or raised so this support is very much appreciated."

"We would like to thank Club Mudgee for everything they've done for us. They've been very helpful with donations because we haven't had a good time since COVID came about, our donations have been down greatly," a Mudgee Men's Shed representative said.

President of St Vincent de Paul Mudgee, Carol Jones said the volunteers are "very appreciative" of the donation which will go towards Christmas hampers for local families who are experiencing homelessness.

"All of our grants are focused on our local community either directly or through the support of organisations that provide for all of us, and especially those in need," Club Mudgee acting CEO, Mark Willis said.

"We offer not just a venue but also serve as a community hub where many groups and organisations can gather, keeping community projects going or to support new local initiatives.

"Everyone's ongoing patronage we receive in kind is greatly appreciated and is what allows us to do what we do for the entire community."
