The outing was well worth the wait for attendees, who have not been able to attend races for six months due to COVID-19 restrictions, with fierce local racing, entertainment and sublime weather on offer.
Mudgee's David J Smith struck gold on October 23 with The Scotsman ($2.50) taking first place in the Pink Up Mudgee Benchmark 50 Handicap (1400 metres) ahead of fellow local contender, Northern Conqueror (Bob Howe) who placed seventh.
The region's trainers and spectators will return on December 3 for the Mudgee Cup. Event details will be released closer to the date.
