Before taking on the role, Ms Strong occupied the position of nursing leader in Justice, Health and Forensic Mental Health Services in Maroubra.
Ms Strong, who hails from Kiama, admitted that working in a health service like Mudgee and Gulgong is something she's "been looking for".
"I have really been looking to take on this role in a leadership position in an inpatient setting so this is where I was hoping to be," Ms Strong said.
"Particularly for Mudgee, the model here. It's an amazing facility but also the combination of inpatient, the community, and the way it's set up really feeds into my experience and strength.
"I've got a really broad range of places I've worked in and this facility brings all of that together, and not many do."
Since commencing as health service manager for Mudgee and Gulgong in late September, Ms Strong has enjoyed her time and appreciated how "warm and welcoming" staff have been.
"I'm new to the area so I have a lot to learn about the district but it's been wonderful so far," she said.
Ms Strong replaced Caren Harrison as health services manager, who now occupies the position of operations manager for Central Western NSW Local Health District.
