"It's good to know that people appreciate us and enjoy our chippies. We always think they're good so it's great that other people think so too."
Best park or playground: Gulgong Adventure Park
Best Schnitty: Cooyal Hotel
"Because we don't have the customer base like the other places in town. We didn't think there was much chance for us so it was a very pleasant surprise and we're all really stoked," Cooyal Hotel owner, David Miller, said.
"Over the last couple of months we've put a lot of effort into our menu. We've got new schnitzels now, we've moved from a processed frozen schnitzel to a fresh, locally sourced chicken breast. The quality of our food has really improved.
Best burger: 53 Food Co
Owner and chef at 53 Food Co, Steven Bowlay said it was an honour to win and offered some sage advice. "It feels good to be recognised by locals, a lot of people voted, we thank them very much. You've got to win in your head before you start. You can't just start a place and then be looking for affirmation from anyone. You've got to have it in your head that you're already good," he said.
Best Butcher: S & S Meats
Clint Ramien of S & S Meats said "it's just fantastic to win the award voted by the people, it's great to get a bit of acknowledgment for what we do.
"The staff always put in and we work on that as much as we can everyday and try to improve our service as well as our product."
