After saying hello to cosmetic injectables in her early thirties, Mrs Winters "wondered why I didn't start this sooner", and in 2018, the Mudgee resident set about establishing the town's first permanent cosmetic centre.

Since then, her business - Beauty Reclaimed - has grown tenfold, from occupying a small room in a salon to a spot down a Market Street laneway to having an unmissable presence from December 1.

"It's been three years of gradually building, it's been quite a labour of love," Mrs Winters said.

"Our little laneway had been perfect but then the front of the building came up for rent during lockdown. I had been wanting to get a laser machine but I knew I didn't have the space where I was.

"The stars aligned and I decided to rent the spot. We are going to have street frontage which I'm really excited about. Even though I've been here for three years, I still get a lot of clients who come in and say they had no idea there was a local option.

"It's such a beautiful two-level building. It's got three treatment rooms, we only occupy two so there's an opportunity for more growth with more services. We've also got a beautiful make-up area upstairs that can be freelanced out to make-up artists for events.

"It's a unique space that has a lot of different uses and possibilities."

Natasha Spencer recently joined Beauty Reclaimed as a cosmetic nurse, and will be operating the new laser machine that has been added to the list of services as part of the expansion.

For Mrs Winters, the most rewarding part of the job is seeing her clients beam with confidence after receiving a treatment.

"I love the comments people make. It's the 'wow' moments when I hand clients the mirror after they've had a treatment and their eyes light up, they feel confident with what they see in the mirror," she said.

"Women, we all need a little bit more of a reason to have a confidence boost whether that's getting your hair done, a new dress, a plump of the lips or smoothing of lines.

"You do you, there's no judgement."

The new Beauty Reclaimed location on 46 Market Street, Mudgee will be unveiled on December 1, 2021.
