The teams were locked 6-all at quarter time, and 10 apiece at the long break, Hornets with a concerted effort gaining the lead at the final break by two points.
The result was still in the balance with a couple of minutes remain, before Raptors scored to once again take the lead by two, then added a further three points without reply to snatch a heart stopping victory.
Toby Forrester 7 points and Harry Briggs 6 top scored for Raptors, Demiah Ainuu 10 Points and the MVP award, Will Hawkins 5 for Hornets.
Mayso's Pro Shop Gold dominated all but the final quarter to take out the Division 1 under 14s grand final over Celtics 33-24.
Mayso's led 14-6 at half time, after leading 7-4 at quarter time, but it was the third quarter that set up the win, outscoring their opponents 15-8, to take an almost unassailable lead into the final quarter.
However, urged on by their coach, Celtics found an extra gear, and fought hard to eat into the 15 point advantage Mayso's held at the final break, but though Mayso's Pro Shop were outscored 10-4 in the final period, they never looked like they would relinquish the lead they worked so hard attain, holding on for a well earned nine point victory.
Connor Mayson and Logan Geddes -the MVP- with 12 points each led the way for Mayso's, Spencer Comincioli 14 points, Lachlan Doran 8 for Celtics.
The Cudgegong Valley Motel (CVM) girls team maintained their dominance over Taipans, after their major semi-final victory, with another convincing win 37-14 in the U-14 Division 2 grand final.
CVM after an bouncing out to an 8-nil lead at quarter time, had stretched it even further by half time ahead 20-2.
Taipans were stiffer opposition for CVM in the third quarter, but they couldn't quite put a run of points together to close the gap, Cudgegong Valley Motel again able outscore their opposition 7-6 and then 10-6 in the final quarter for a convincing win.
Amelia Disher shot 23 points, and received the MVP award, for Cudgegong Valley Motel, Rachel Channon 8. For Taipans, Cooper Crowe 6 points, Jack Sinclair 4.
