The Midwest Brumbies are facing a tough year before the season is even underway with a number of players pulling out pre-season for a multitude of reasons, leaving the club unsure if they'll be able to field all their teams this year.
While the 14s and 16s sides are at a healthy place with numbers, the other teams have a question mark over them with a number of players from the 18s and opens sides forced out to due to work or personal commitments.
Brumbies president, Greg Ward said he hopes they can make up the difference before it's too late.
"Everything was going swimmingly until it came to a stage where we're probably going to be unable to field all five of our sides," he said.
"I made a phone call yesterday afternoon (Monday, December 20) to the president of the Western Women's Rugby League and gave them a heads up that we're possibly not going to be able to field all five sides."
Greg said they hope to drive registrations early next year with open days and trial games.
"The first couple of weeks in January we're going to put another big push on to try and get some more players for the junior girls," he said.
"At this stage if we can get enough numbers for the opens side I'll take the reigns of those girls and lead them so we'll put another push on early in the new year as I've agreed on with the Western Women's to do another recruitment drive
"We'll try and have a trial day and get some enthusiasm and some regos up and hopefully this bout of COVID that's decided to jump at us just before Christmas has settled right down and people can can come and train and have a go."
If anyone is interested in joining the Midwest Brumbies, Greg said just come and have a go.
"Every girl that turns up and wants to have a go at tackle rugby is welcomed, and they will be just come and have a go," he said.
"We're all there for each other, we're gonna support each other through thick and thin, not every club is blessed with being able to source from a wide range of towns.
"We're only small, but we have a lot of fun..."
