The three brothers from near Mudgee, 18-year-old Shardyn, 17-year-old Tayzin and 16-year-old Makirum, leave for Tamworth today.
Alita Fahey, the boys’ mother, said Brothers3 looked forward to Tamworth each year - although they were also loyal to their local event and had a lot of fun at the Gulgong Folk Festival.
The Tamworth festival allows the trio to catch up with friends and get out their tents for a camping trip, which is the reason this year’s predicted heat wave has them a little worried.
They will also play 24 gigs around Tamworth, and they have still been adding shows this week.
The boys have been nominated for five Australian Country Music People’s Choice Awards and three Tamworth Songwriters’ Association Awards.
Once again, Brothers3 will contest the People’s Choice Award for Best Group or Duo, which they have won for the last three years.
They have also been nominated for Best Bush Ballad for Makirum’s song What Makes A Balladeer, Best Album for Let it Drift, and Best Song for the album’s title track.
The group’s video clip for Tiny’s Mandolin, which follows the song’s story of a girl and her mandolin, has been nominated for Best Video Clip, having already been awarded a prize at the Australian Independent Music Awards in Canberra.
In the Tamworth Songwriters’ Association Awards, Brothers3’s Teeny Tarni Tumbleweed has been nominated for Best Children’s Song, ‘Second Hand Man has been nominated for Best Blues or Roots Song, and The Huntsman in the Harmonica has been nominated for Best Comedy Song.
